Was Son House in London 1966-68? My dad claims to have seen him in a club at that time. Blind Brand X... He certainly was - I saw him as part of the American Blues Festival tour at Hammersmith in '67 ( 40 years ago - sheesh!), & I'm pretty sure I recall reading in Blues Unlimited that he was doing club gigs too; that was quite a show, Skip James & Bukka White were also on the bill, & all of them were still playing well, Son was just starting to look a bit frail, but he still stole the show!

Anyone out there have any examples of labels/decals from Schireson Brothers resonator guitars that were built in Los Angeles in the early to mid 1930s?...Thanks!!! Blind Brand X

Page 1 QUOTE: "And this is a great picture. I found it in a New York magazine about 15 years ago & have never been able to trace these people, or the hand-built early National Tricone." I'm guessing that's Austin's own Bennet Spielvogel a.k.a. East Side Flash with the tri-cone and I think it's Charlie Sexton on the right. www.flashpointrecording.com/My_Homepage_Files/Page1.htmlwww.charliesexton.com/East Side Flash runs flash point recording studio in the music district here in Austin. He is a talented and well known Dobro player in contact with many professional musicians.

Hi Eric, I think you might have unlocked this mystery photo! Is there any way you could contact Bennet and ask if it is him? Shine On, Michael

East Side Flash was, of course, a member of Shorty Long with the immortal Pops Bayless.

Hi Michael,
Yes, I'll call him and let you know. I'll also find out more about it including the name of the guy on the left. I'll report back.
I actually took a Dobro lesson from East Side Flash many years ago... mostly he railed on my old Oahu guitar and suggested I get a "professional" instrument by some new guy named Paul Beard. I didn't have the money at the time and kind of resented him knocking my choice of instrument at the time. I liked that guitar!!!

OK... I just got off the phone with Bennett (East Side Flash) and it is NOT him! He even thought it looked like him!!! Likely is Charlie Sexton on the right we both thought. I've got an e-mail into Charlie and will let you know if I get a response. Still a mystery photo. I thought I had it
