Anyone ever seen or heard of this brand? I'm guessing it's from the 50's (based on original case). Thanks, Ross Attachments:

Hi Ross These were made in many 1000s. They used a Schireson type of cone resonator (an inferior design of cone shaped like a bowl that infringed the Dopyeras patent). They are often branded as "Recording Kings", "Antorias" and many other Trade names. They were made in the mid 1930s. Here is a catalogue from Dallas Music in the UK from 1937. It shows your instrument - this time branded as a "Monarch". They can be called almost anything! I'm not sure exactly who made them - possibly Harmony. The body shell is extremely close to the shape and design of Nationals El Trovador. Any help?

Mark,
Many, many thanks for the prompt (and thorough) response. I suspected Harmony or Kay as potential manufacturers but had no idea of the volume that was produced.

Mark,
Am considering listing this on eBay or elesewhere. Are you OK if I use your scanned image (of catalog)?

I had an ampliphonic resonator guitar years ago. I bought it in a junk shop in Exeter in 1973. The body looked pretty similar to yours but it had a non-slotted head with the name in MOP in italic script. It also had an ebony fretboard so it might have been the top of the range model. Sold about 25 years ago I'm afraid.
