Your guitar sounds great Honeyboy.
Tee shirts and keyrings, it's an interesting thought.
Shine On Michael.

Hi there !
Is it me, or is the handrest on Honeyboy's Blues a bit squint ? The handrest looks almost horizontal while the guitar is leaning quite a bit, at an angle !
By the way, my Lightnin serial no. is : MML 0006 08

Here are a few photo's of my delightful, hotrodded, MML005 08, which has found itself a lovely home in Sweden (check the snow in the background!). Out of curiosity... does anyone else's blues or lightning have a partially routed indentation between the two position markers on the 12th fret? I thought mine was a one off but it looks like Honeyboys's blues has one too, weird.

Hi there ! Is it not a filled-in 3rd dot position marker - (middle of fretboard behind 12th fret) - just like the Republic resonators have ?
Mine (the next serial no. after yours) has one but poorly finished. I've taken a picture but my digital camera then went dead - I'm recharging the battery now - will post pics later.

Hey Snakehips, Thanks for the info - I figured it had just slipped though on mine due to the rush to get the guitars out. Not to worry though, i'm still very pleased with my lightning! Cool that you have the next guitar after mine, now if only I could learn play it as well as you

What a pleasure to be able to make an entry in this thread, at long last ;D - shame I don't have better pictures... Ok, so mine is a 12 fret MM Blues, specifically, MMB 0157 09, which is finished in the standard greyburst matt - has three dot makers at the 12th - and is set up for lapstyle. Strictly-speaking this is a "B" stock instrument due to some (incredibly minor) cosmetic blemishes, but to me it's still a first rate instrument and one bought at a real bargain price After some discussion with Robin, I opted to have it set up with a nut riser and fitted with 16-59 (Newtone MM National) strings, specifically for lapstyle use in low bass tunings. (Which, it has to be said, works very well) Thus far it has mainly been played in DGDGBD, with a brief but interesting foray into DGDF#BD. (One benefit of the nut riser approach is, of course, that the riser can - readily and reversibly - be removed for occasional bouts of bottleneck playing, if required, tho as "vertical" guitar tends to induce minor aches and pains in some of me joints this will likely remain very occasional) In the main, I try to play blues of various sorts on it, but am also into exploring and drawing on other lapstyle uses, approaches and techniques. Strictly for amateur use, mostly for relaxation / getting lost in after a day's work etc and once a week jams wiv me old mate John.

I received my MM Blues a couple of days ago but have only had chance to really have a play today. What an instrument! Cosmetic second, bought from Busker Guitars. MMB 287 12 Grey burst Standard Blues, folk, ragtime Amateur! The finish isn't half as bad as Robin had described to me. If he hadn't had said anything, I would probably been none the wiser..! Apparently the spray paint gun was too close to the instrument in the factory. There are a few marks here and there and the cover plate has bits under the coat of paint, but that is all. As for the sound, it is better than I had imagined. Unbelievably loud, full of resonance and character. It ranges from angry barks to sweet bird song. The strings are a little higher than I am use to, so I will see how I get on and maybe do something about this in the future. It has taken a couple of hours to adjust to a playing a resonator, so this is probably all part of the parcel. Oh, and it is heavy! Almost did myself an injury when I grabbed it out of its case. Care is needed. Thanks to robin at Busker Guitars. Great service, I spoke to him on Monday, it was here on Wednesday. I'm over the moon with this guitar. Si. Attachments:
