Last night I found these five new clips of film of Jeremy talking about his playing and musical influences. As the slide guitarist in the original Fleetwood Mac and the person who turned the baby boom generation on to Elmore James, Jeremy Spencer is one of the most influential and important slide players.
--------------------------------------------------------------------- This looks like it was filmed on the same day as the interviews...
Jamming in a bar in Mexico.....'Red Hot Mama'
--------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a couple of old clips of Jeremy with Fleetwood Mac....

Hi Michael, Thanks. I watched and enjoyed them all too.
A guy at work heard an Elmore James number and asked me where he could hear some more so as well as lending him the Elmore James CD I have I also included the early Fleetwood Mac albums. He loved them all.
PS What is Jeremy playing through in those clips?

Great stuff - and the two acoustic JS tracks on 'the original fleetwood mac' are fabulous. Very simple, for a master... (mean ol' fireman - open d (part of a son house track) and allow me one more show - open g). TT

I am pleased you like those clips. Jeremy has a really lovely smooth touch and rich tone when he plays, and his vibrato is beautiful. He grooves with that band too - lovely stuff. Shine On, Michael (The amp is a Fender Mini Tone-Master. It is a crude little battery amp and wouldn't sound like that in everybody's hands) >We must try and keep the discussions on this new board about music and playing techniques, not amps and guitars.

Just to add to our Jeremy Spencer thread, here is some lovely playing on It Hurts Me Too. Great technique and beautiful tone...

'Inspirational' is the word. The guitar playing in Jeremy's film of 'It Hurts Me Too' is absolutely beautiful and the solo up on the last few frets of the neck is up there with some of slide guitar's greatest moments. The way the playing builds and develops through the song and then it climaxes in the last solo.....! I was just talking with Mark Makin on the phone and we both thought the same thing, it is just one of the most beautiful pieces of slide playing and it sits in that place where only very few slide players have ever gone. Anyone who thought Jeremy's playing was limited to re-working the Elmore James book of slide licks should think again - ABSOLUTELY STUNNING & BEAUTIFUL!
Shine On Michael.

Wow! making the music talk...the lyrical quality of his soloing has that real talking to you, not talking at you type of thing. An influence many years ago for so many of us I guess but this new appreciation has certainly got me re evaluating my playing to ensure that I am not just going through the motions but that I make sure that when i play I have something to say cooler than a lot of very cool things!

I would like to add, as I had the privilege to share the stage with him at Kladno Amistar Resofest (Slovakia) May 2011, he is a great kind gentleman. Very interested by the other musicians too.
