Featured in Guitarist magazine - This is MMB TEST 001 - it is the first prototype MM BLUES guitar that arrived in the UK. I have had it at my home since December 2007 and now it is time to move it on. Everything is the same spec as the production MM BLUES model except for three points - the aged finish, the short rolled F holes, and the body depth is 80mm to 60mm, rather than 80 to 70. I have played this guitar a lot and I can tell you it is a great and unique guitar.

This guitar is exactly the same as our production model MM BLUES guitar except for the F holes (which are long rolled F holes) and the finish. This was a test finish that was produced earlier this year.

One of the strengths of MM Resonator guitars is that because they are handbuilt in a small workshop they all have their own qualities & sound, which is exactly how it should be. This aged MM LIGHTNING really is an excellent instrument. I played it for a while one evening last week and I was very impressed. The sound & feel is very vintage-National and the aged finish is very well done and it does look like a vintage National Lightning Bolt!
The tuners are upgraded to Stewmac Retro tuners and the bridge saddle has been upgraded. Everything else is standard.
If I had my way this one would have come home with me

MM BLUES LAPSTYLE SPECIAL
Here is the next guitar in our "Specials" series.
This is the lost MM Blues from the first shipment MMB 0005 08. The guitar's neck set was just a shade shallower than usual so, whilst the guitar would suit a slide player (3.2 mm) there was no leaway to reduce that in the future should the musician want to change the set-up for fingerstyle. Also this guitar has had a small patch of paint on the side chipped off. So I put the guitar to one side.
However, all the recent instrest on the forum in lapstyle playing gave us the idea of converting this guitar. It has had a tall bone nut fitted, a flat bridge and 16-59 strings. The result is a great bluesy lapstyle guitar with bags of volume for those late night lock-ins at your local pub

As this guitar is a second we are offering it at a very special price, which we hope will encourage more musicians to try lapstyle - particularly with an instrument like this that will really cut through the mix at sessions.
